Meet Our Coaching Staff

Welcome to KCAC!

We are proud to introduce our staff. We believe that the KCAC coaching staff is second to none in the area. Each and every coach in our gym is USASF Credentialed in tumbling, stunts and cheer through level 5. Our coaches are also trained and certified in AACCA Safety. We believe in continued education and training and continue to train our coaches every year so we are up and current with the latest in the all star industry. Five of our staff members are former collegiate cheerleaders. We have one staff member who was a professional cheerleader and one who is a current professional cheerleader. Two of our coaches have coached at the college level. Five of our coaches have coached High School in the past or are current coaches. We have multiple coaches who lead state champion high school teams. Three of our coaches have been on and have led teams in the College Worlds. We have one coach who was in the Dance Worlds. One of our coaches currently coaches competitive gymnastics and is a member of the USGA. (We all know cheerleading is not known for the same form and technique as gymnastics.) At KCAC our coaches strive to continue to be on the cutting edge of new techniques to support form and safety.

KCAC coaches have coached and choreographed for National Championship teams and have led undefeated seasons with these National Champions.

Why is KCAC right for so many families? I believe that it stems from our belief that we each bring different skills, passions and ideas to all of the KCAC teams. Our teams are not led by one coach but by all. Why is this important? Whether your child is level 1 or level 5, 4 years old or 18 - your cheerleader will get the same quality coaching. Everyone is important, and as a group, it is our goal to make your cheerleader the best she/he can be.

KCAC COACHING STAFF:

Johanna Lucas:
KCAC Owner/Coach
  • Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Kansas
  • USASF Certified through Level 5
  • AACCA Safety Trained and Certified
  • I believe my background in early childhood and social work enables me to understand the cheerleaders needs and to structure a successful program - one that fosters team work, confidence, pride, athleticism and sportsmanship are of utmost importance to me. I believe that girls, and women in particular, need a safe place to learn to treat each other as equals and to build one another up. Think back to middle school, junior high, high school… These are tough years. I have owned and been coaching, cheerleading, stunting and tumbling for the past 8 years. I am not a former cheerleader but I grew up doing gymnastics, basketball, volley ball and softball. I fell in love with the sport because I believe that cheerleading is the ultimate sport. There are no timeouts, no benchwarmers, and no substitutions in cheer. No other sport requires everyone on the team to be there in order to have a smooth, safe routine. No other sport relies so heavily on trust, athleticism, strength and flexibility. I fell in love with cheer watching my daughter and have never looked back. It is my commitment to continue to have a staff that are all credentialed and trained in every area possible. I will never assume that I already have all of the answers. I will continue to grow as a coach and owner every year.
